| Ribeiro, which
means ‘river bank’, is a small
region in northwest Spain. It was
named a DO 50 years ago and today is
undergoing a renaissance thanks to
its return to native white grape
varieties such as Treixadura,
Loureira, and Torrontes, which grow
well in the damp maritime climate of
northwestern Iberia. |

White wines from Ribeiro are typically crisp, aromatic whites that pair well
with the seafood and shellfish common in the area. The wines from the vineyards
of Gran Campiño are a perfect representation of these little-known whites.
Intriguingly fragrant with a nose similar to Muscat, these wines are perfectly
refreshing on a hot summer day. |
