| The Ribera del
Duero is blessed by a combination of
terroir, microclimate and a native
grape that provides superb, complex
red wines. At this altitude
Tempranillo (also known as Tinta del
País or Tinto Fino) gives
thin-skinned and refreshingly acidic
fruit, which in turn gives wines
that are delicious when they are
young but also have the capacity to
age for many years to come. Ribera
del Duero follows the same aging
requirements for their wines as
Rioja, and continue to produce some
of the best-known and highly
regarded reds in the country. |

Bodegas Peñafiel, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, produces their Miros
wines from the Tinta del País grape grown in old vineyards in the heart of
Peñafiel. Production is limited, and each new vintage features a label created
by a famed Spanish painter. All of the grapes are hand-harvested, transported in
15kg boxes, and undergo triage. |
