Region: DO Carinena

The largest of the four DO zones of the Aragón region, Cariñena is the name of both the region and a grape variety that is more commonly found in France. Garnacha is the most widely planted red grape here, accounting for 55% of Cariñena vineyards. This region, which is one of the oldest demarcated growing areas in Europe, has a continental climate, with extremely hot summers and bitterly cold winters. The “cierzo”, a cold northerly wind, helps to keep the humidity low.

Viña Paquita
Viña Paquita comes from a project between the Spanish team at Vinergia and wine—producing family Esteban Martin. The estate has around 150 hectares on poor, pebbly soil that receives plenty of sunlight as well as the region’s famous cierzo winds. The bush vines are old-vine Garnacha.
